Ashlee commented on What's causing my O2 stats to suddenly improve?
Welcome, violetmeow! It may have been a miracle, though you probably need to be checked out by your pulmonary doctor. How long have you been on oxygen and what kind of tests were done to determine your need for oxygen therapy? I’ve had adult-onset Asthma vs. COPD for 25 years. Almost 8 years ago, my doctor decided it was COPD rather than Asthma and put me on oxygen therapy, at 2 liters. Five years later when I had to be recertified for continued coverage by Medicare, an overnight oximetry test showed no desaturations and my doctor discontinued my oxygen therapy. A month later my FEV1 improved by 21%. That was almost 2 years ago and I haven’t used oxygen since. I’ve been in the so-called end-stage on and off for many years, will turn 75 this year, haven’t had an exacerbation since I’ve been off of oxygen, and have never felt better. I would discuss this with my doctor and request an ABG (arterial blood gas) test to make certain you are getting enough oxygen.

Probably not the best thing to do, but I think you'll be okay. All I find is: Never permit any form of lubricant (oil, grease, baby oil, lubricating gel etc.) to come into contact with oxygen fi...

I did a search before this post.  But, my feet hurt so bad and I do have an appt. with my primary doctor this week and so I finally gave in and rubbed my toes down with baby oil.  I am on oxygen 3 lpm continuous.  What are the real dangers of doing this?  I never would change tanks with baby oil on my hands.  I use aloe lotions but my toenails are so dry and brittle they n...

Hi everyone.  My name is Sylvia.  My father passed away last month from brain cancer.  Three days ago my husband of 30 years was diagnosed with Stage 2 lung cancer.  I do not know what to do or what to expect.

anybody out there that has this? I have not met anyone yet and not much on the Internet about it. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago, after I got aspergillosis.

I was at my pulmanory dr. last week.  All was fine.  But, for the past two days my sats drop when I get up and move  about.  They drop in the low 80's and it takes awhile with the oxygen to get it back in the normal range.  I try pursed breathing.  In other words is this just something that will pass.  I feel fine.   Can allergies play a part and be play...

In the past week I have had a sudden drop in my lung capacity and increased shortness of breath. No infection obvious. Xray  was good. I am scheduled for my periodic CT next week so that may be helpful in showing. My capacity had been around 30-33% last testing but the fev1 at the doctors office was only 23% last week. My only real change has been changing my heart medication from Coreg to By...

I had audible wheezing sounds that my grandchildren asked me about. I also had these bubbly sounds when exhaling. I called my sister who has asthma, and she told me that's what hers sounded like. I went to my primary who heard wheezing in my lungs on exhaling. Since my husband has been dxed with COPD since '98, I knew that wheezing wasn't good. She sent me for a PFT. It showed obstruct...

Think about this: more than 4 in 10 people in the United States live in counties that have unhealthy levels of either ozone or particle pollution. Now think about this: in the time it took to read that, you probably took 4-5 breaths. Makes you want to know what was in that air, doesn't it?

If your health insurance plan covers quit-smoking treatments, you are more likely to try to quit and be successful. A new report from the American Lung Association, "State Health Insurance Marketplace Plans: New Opportunities to Help Smokers Quit," finds that the majority of health insurance plans and policymakers are not taking advantage of the chance to help millions of smokers quit.
